An in-depth appointment about the care of the community and the territory specific for the theme of DFC (Dementia Friendly Community).
The proportions reached by the phenomenon of cognitive disorders are alarming, especially in areas such as ours, characterized by a high rate of aging. Since there is no decisive pharmacological therapy, it is necessary to build a socializing (friendly) network of protection and prevention, capable of involving every sector of society in synergy with local institutions. An inclusive and participatory network that knows how to make health professionals interact with voluntary associations, trade associations, cultural associations, sports associations, third sector associations, law enforcement agencies and religious bodies.

Ivrea, with other approximately forty Italian realities, has been a “dementia-friendly city” since 2016. The project of creating other “urban and rural” DFC communities is inspired by this experience. The first rural community identified, in the wake of and in the continuity with what was traced and implemented by the “Valchiusella Laboratory – Mountains in Movement – Wellness houses”, is the Valchiusella one, which could therefore initiate the second national rural DFC (the first was born in Trentino Alto Adige).
The seminar is aimed at institutions, various representatives of the society, local health professionals and university students of Officina H University Training Centre to start a path of knowledge and discussion necessary to be able to understand and interpret the future challenges that will await us.
Two other key topics will rotate around the “core” theme referring to cognitive disorders and the importance of giving life to DFC realities: the role of municipal administrations and the community in a broad sense (or even better in the Olivetti sense!) and the role of the health professions in the light of the directives contained in the NRRP.
